2024 Events
Hello! We are reaching out on behalf of Kithship Collective, an organization dedicated to showcasing prairie-centered community, creativity, art, and artists. At Kithship, we believe in the power of community engagement and collaboration to create positive change. We are excited to share our upcoming events, each designed to celebrate and enrich our community:
1st Annual Dandelion Festival
May 1st, 3:45-5:30 p.m., Bison Public Library
In modern times, the dandelion has come to be considered a nuisance, but in previous generations, it was a revered source of food and medicine! Join us for an afternoon of celebrating this underappreciated plant neighbor. There will be culinary treats to sample, a community art project, and dandelion foraging.
Welcome Our New Neighbors: Reintroducing Bison to Bison
June 1st, 2-5 p.m., 310 W. Main St
To herald the arrival of a small herd of bison to Sion Hanson’s ranch, we are hosting an afternoon of art, music, and good neighboring. Featuring folk artists Chucky Suchy + Jami Lynn (music), Noelle Benson (quilting), Lyle Miller (art), and Saddi Holiday-Miller (dance), this event aims to celebrate the connections between humans, animals, and plants that create vibrant, thriving communities.
Rural Regenerators Art Show + Eliza Blue Book Signing:
June 15th, American Legion, 11a.m.-4 p.m. (As part of Gala Days)
In this multidisciplinary art exhibition, the rural community artists from Rural Regenerator Fellowship ‘23-24 respond to a common misconception of rural places: “There’s nothing out there.” Through paintings, quill boxes, virtual reality art, music, and textiles, the nine artists address this idea, sharing work made for, from, and of the rural places they call home.
AND
Eliza will be signing copies of her new book, out this summer from South Dakota State Historical Society Press, Little Pasture on the Prairie, 1-3 pm.
Destination Regeneration Movie + Music:
July 27th, 5:30-7 p.m., 310 W. Main St
Join us for an evening of entertainment and inspiration as we screen “Operation Regeneration,” a documentary highlighting grassroots efforts to revitalize our rural areas, followed by live music from songwriter Ben Stiegelmeier.
These events are opportunities for entertainment and engagement as well as platforms for dialogue, education, and empowerment within our community. But we can’t do it with YOU! We are a 100% volunteer organization, and donor contributions enable us to offer these events for free.
Your support, no matter the amount, will directly contribute to the success of our events and our ongoing efforts to foster a sense of fun, fellowship, and connection within our community.
You can donate with a check payable to: The Kithship Collective. Thank you for considering this opportunity to support our community initiatives! Together, we can create a brighter future for all.
Warm regards,
Eliza Blue + The Kithship Crew
